From Screen Time to Play Time Part 1

Top Tips from Part 1

  • Excessive screen time causes long-term, negative side effects for our children
  • PLAY is the antidote and is exactly what our children need to thrive in their development
  • It’s never too late and we absolutely can make changes, starting today!
  • Use a visual timetable for young children to show when screen time is coming in the day
  • Create a screen time agreement with older children in a family meeting and display it
  • Involving children in the process is empowering and makes them more likely to stick to the agreed rules
  • Be patient in the early days, it is well worth the effort!

This is so helpful thank you. After having baby no 3 in the first lockdown, my older two have become addicted to screens like never before. I was always so caught up with the baby and all their learning was online too. It felt like everything revolved around screens. I love the idea of making a plan with them, and earning more screen time with chores. Thanks 🙏🏼

Thank you. I have 3 children aged 12, 9 and 4. I am hoping the visual routine will help my 4yr old who struggles when it’s time to come off the screen. We also find it hard to say no when the older ones are having screen time. When my eldest was 4 screen time was very limited for him in comparison. Time to put your plan into practice! Thank you
